Then we have packaging (foam, peanuts, tape, and label) 0.70 cents. Which means the 10 mins of packing cost $2. Then it takes 10 mins to pack the product. X costs us $15.00 (which starts off as a fairly healthy margin)īut then we have listing fees and sale fees of $5 X sells on eBay from one of our competitors for $35 and free shipping. It doesn’t make sense to sell online for us because of the eBay fees. ![]() My wife and I run a successful brick and mortar store where we sell new products. ![]() I think the miscommunication is everyone is assuming I am trying to sell used things I don’t want anymore. But if you are trying to sell anything new, chances are your supplier is already selling online at a lower price + free shipping. I suppose it would work great for used items. So we just can’t compete selling against our suppliers, especially with eBay taking 10%. However after doing some research it looks like even our suppliers are already selling online. And we are doing quite well with it, I was thinking it would make a lot of sense to bring some of our products online. My problem is my wife and I are running a brick and mortar store right now. I guess that would fall under wrong product, but it seems everything is the wrong product these days because by the time you discover something to sell, someone has already beaten you to it. They can under cut me on price and include free shipping which doesn’t leave much on my end. They are getting bulk rates on larger quantities, plus bulk costs on packaging. I’m in a medium saturation niche, but don’t have the buying power that my competitors have. It’s not so much the wrong product but just being out priced.
